Giving Back
Now more than ever we are called to do our part in the collective experiment we call this country. Freedoms are not self-sustaining, and liberty is not a birthright. We all have a role in both giving a hand up to those that but for the grace go I… AND in amplifying the stories of those in need and shining a light on critical issues like food insecurity and basic safety. Here you will find a collection of stories ranging from eating the rations of a Syrian refugee to raise funds so that vulnerable people might rebuild their lives in safety, a campaign I took on again in the summer of 2021, to hunger and food security and waste.
About hunger, did you know meatless Mondays date back more than 70 years (it was Tuesday then). Do you know how much food we waste every year? Hint: its more than 40%. Here are some ideas on how you can save your household up to $2300 per year. What can you do to make sure 1 in 4 school age children get the food they need? Build the world you want to live in!

Giving Thanks and Giving Back: Cupcakes for a Cause
It’s been a couple of a weeks and I’m still not sure which was cuter – the cupcakes or the girls making them. I had the rare opportunity to visit the monthly meeting of the minds of Team ChloElla J, a band of merry thirteen year-olds (Juliette is now 14) who gather...
Meet Katy
Well, hello there! I’m Katy. And I’m all about Palate & Passion & Purpose. I’ve spent my whole life weaving together a passion for food, entertaining, and enjoying family & friends with a purpose for improving the lives of others. There’s no better way to live with purpose than to break bread with others. See how that all came full circle? And…I was lucky enough to make a career out of doing so!
